Affiliate Relationships
Heartland Agroforestry participates in affiliate marketing programs. This means I may earn a commission when you purchase products through links on this site, at no additional cost to you.
What This Means
When you click on an affiliate link and make a purchase:
- You pay the exact same price you would pay anyway
- The merchant pays me a small commission (typically 3-10% of the sale)
- This helps support the site and allows me to continue providing free content
Programs I Participate In
I currently participate in or may participate in the following affiliate programs:
- Amazon Associates – Earns commission on qualifying purchases through Amazon
- ShareASale Network – Includes various nurseries and farm suppliers
- CJ Affiliate – Includes Tractor Supply and other retailers
- Individual Merchant Programs – Direct relationships with nurseries and suppliers (Forrest Keeling, Plantra, etc.)
This list may be updated as I add or remove affiliate relationships.
My Commitment to You
I only recommend products I:
- Have personally used on my own farm, OR
- Would use based on research and reputation, OR
- Believe would genuinely help readers based on my experience
I will never:
- Recommend a product solely because it offers high commission
- Misrepresent a product’s capabilities or benefits
- Hide the fact that a link is an affiliate link
- Link to products I wouldn’t use myself
How Links Are Marked
Affiliate links appear throughout articles as normal hyperlinks. Each article containing affiliate links includes a disclosure statement at the top or bottom noting that affiliate links are present.
Some examples of how affiliate links appear:
- “I used these tree tubes which held up well…”
- “Hardware cloth barriers available here would have prevented this…”
- Product recommendations in list format with linked text
Other Income Sources
In addition to affiliate commissions, this site may earn income from:
Sponsored Content – If a company pays me to write about their product or service, it will be clearly disclosed at the top of that article.
Advertising – I may display ads from advertising networks in the future. These will be clearly marked as advertisements.
Consulting or Services – I may offer paid services such as farm consultations or speaking engagements in the future.
At this time (as of 30 November 2025), the primary income source is affiliate commissions.
Product Reviews and Recommendations
When I review or recommend products:
- Products I own: I’ve purchased and used them on my farm
- Products I don’t own: I clearly state this and base recommendations on research, reputation, and similar products I have used
- Sponsored products: If a company provides a product for review, this is disclosed in the article
My goal is to provide honest, practical information based on real farming experience. Positive reviews are earned, not purchased.
Questions or Concerns
If you have questions about:
- Whether a specific link is an affiliate link
- My experience with a particular product
- My relationship with a company or brand
Please feel free to:
- Leave a comment on any article
- Contact me at [email protected]
Changes to This Policy
I may update this disclosure policy as the site grows and affiliate relationships change. The “Effective Date” at the top will reflect when this policy was last updated.
FTC Compliance
This disclosure policy complies with the Federal Trade Commission’s guidelines on endorsements and testimonials. I am transparent about affiliate relationships and strive to provide honest, useful information to readers.
Bottom Line: Some links on this site earn me a commission. I only recommend things I’d use on my own farm. Your trust is more important than any commission.
